Distribution Facility for Low-Cost Supermarket Chain in the Midlands
Midland Structures were engaged by the Main Frame Supplier to produce the lattice girders on a new distribution centre in the West Midlands for a low-cost supermarket chain.
The Project consisted of 170 tonnes of girders the trusses were assembled in the workshop at their final length of 24 metres, before being spliced for transportation .
The steel was coated after fabrication with a two pack paint system and then transported to site – the project was turned around in 4 weeks from start to finish.
Cheese Factory North West England
Midland Structures were engaged to supply materials, fabricate, galvanise and deliver to site 200 tonnes of structural steelwork over a four week period, with strict controls and restrictions on delivery times. In addition, assistance was given to the client in the procurement of erection and cladding sub contractors who we liaised with throughout the contract.
Water Treatment Towers – Maldives
Midland Structures were asked to design five water tank support structures for the Maldives. The design was completed in conjunction with the client, detailed as a 3D model, fabricated, trial assembled, galvanised, packed into containers and delivered to the Maldives. The local installation team were then supervised by our staff.
Midland structures were involved in recent redevelopment to Kings Cross Station. Images show the completed taxi rank structural steelwork below.

British Postal Museum Archive London
Midland Structures experienced a first with this contract, supplying two different customers with two totally different requirements on the same site.
During the War the postal service ran in London on special underground trains, and Midland Structures had the privilege of supplying the fabricated chassis for the trains that will carry visitors around the site. These fabrications were manufactured to close engineering tolerances, with many machined parts.
In addition we supplied 100 tonnes of steelwork to the buildings that have been constructed on the site, making it the first time we have supplied steelwork to the same site, for both above and below ground.
Dundonald School Wimbledon
Having successfully completed the supply, delivery and erection of the structural steelwork to the roof, and the steelwork to support the roof of the existing structure to form a link to the old building, Midland Structures concluded their works package on the project with the supply and fitting of the feature walkway canopy and fire escape staircase.
Iconic London Building
Midland Structures fabricated, painted and assembled 4 x 25m long access towers. After assembly they were split into 3 sections weighing approx. 5 tonnes each.
These were assembled in the Midland Structures yard, using mobile cranes and telehandlers. This project was subject to precise timings, and all were erected without a problem on-site in very restrictive circumstances .
